The Obstructionist-in-Chief, Craig Karnes, Housing and Urban Development‘s (HUD) Acting Deputy Chief Procurement Officer is livid. His previously captive Management and Marketing (M&M) Field Service Manager (FSM) Awardee, Guardian Asset Management, finally became tired of footing Karnes’ bill. And while many may argue that Cathy Baker runs the M&M today, the reality is that Baker is the subordinate of Karnes. And the pinnacle of Karnes ascension was the navigation of the M&M contract during the aftermath of the 2008 Financial Meltdown. There is a lot of concern about how HUD will function and whether or not the wink and a nod business dealings will continue, like clockwork, now that Karnes’ welfare wagon has left. Regardless of how the upper story offices are taking it on Peachtree Street, the water cooler chatter on the floors below Karnes are pretty clear in what they think.
Fact of the matter is that every since Foreclosurepedia began asking some extremely pointed questions of HUD, Karnes has created a communications blackout. A recent question about the use of HUD’s form 309 and 9519a for the training of Field Service Technicians was stonewalled by Karnes and HUD for weeks. Then, after a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) filing was buried for nearly a month until a mysterious Denisha Gilet sent an unsigned response stating, in part, that the Yes or No request to use the forms as educational aids was twisted in a typical HUD manner. Here is the question asked on FOIA of Karnes himself,
“Information as to whether or not the International Association of Field Service Technicians (IAFST), a nonprofit trade association, may use the HUD 309 and HUD 9519a forms in our educational training program. The use of these documents will be to train personnel, throughout the Mortgage Field Services Industry, on how to properly navigate these work order forms.”
Here is how Karnes and Gilet teamed up to ensure that education may never be delivered to the very people in the field whom need access to it,
At this time, I have assigned your request to the complex track. In an effort to speed up our process, you may wish to narrow the scope of your request to limit the number of potentially responsive records so that it can be placed in a different processing track.
A simple Yes or No question. It gets better, though. As seen below, the FOIA was received on 04 October 2023 by Craig Karnes, HUD’s Acting Deputy Chief Procurement Officer. Gilet, whether by order from Karnes or otherwise, dropped the ball. Here was her confirmation,
The Department of Housing and Urban Development acknowledges your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated October 4, 2023. Your request was received in the Department’s FOIA Office, on October 31, 2023. At this time, the assigned tracking number for your request is 24-FI-HQ-00227.
Remember, Karnes received it on 04 October 2023. And it was additionally carbon copied to the very same HUD FOIA officers whom had replied to my last FOIA only a few weeks before. Now, it is well and good that Karnes has an ax to grind with me. After a decade and a half of being privy to millions of dollars that have simply vanished and never paid to Labor, it is probably getting pretty hard to hide the money including the Whistleblower’s Lawsuit filed by Kelly Brown that was Deep Sixed after Karnes was brought into the loop. What is not well and good is to play games with the FOIA process. To that point, Foreclosurepedia requested the name and email contact to file a complaint against both Karnes and Gilet and that, as usual, has not been forthcoming.
It wasn’t so much the brush off that troubled me by Karnes and Gilet. It was the implied threats of releasing my address and the enormity of fees that could be assessed. It was a loaded gun, pointed directly at my head by the two of them.
So, when Friday came along and Karnes and his cronies rolled out the latest HUD M&M FSM 3.12 Awards, it was no surprise. The $70 Million+ in Awards to Eduardo San Roman, 24 Asset Management whom, in turn, controls Assero, were known to be problematic as early as 27 July 2023, when Karnes replied to my email questioning the massive amount of debt and liens which still exist against Assero and 24 Asset Management,
I’m not at liberty to discuss the 3.12 corrective action, but HUD is aware of the relationship between 24 Asset Management and Assero. If 24 Asset Management were to continue with a HUD award, they would be required to mitigate any identified Conflicts of Interest.
Mitigate? Is this for real? Because Assero has been receiving dozens of liens on the hour, every hour, pertaining to LoanCare’s account for refusing to pay Labor. Here is a photo of the debt, back then, which has since skyrocketed,
See, that’s the deal. It is so difficult to not be implicated in the criminal activity even if one is innocent with HUD. And when you go to the mattresses to protect people that you absolutely know are not qualified to be Awardees, it doesn’t bode well on your FitRep with HUD’s PSD. Is Karnes a good guy? Honestly, I don’t know. What I do know is that out of the millions of dollars in fraud and dozens of witnesses I brought him to testify, over the years, not a single one ever resulted in anything other than window dressing. To this day, even the Involuntary Bankruptcy of National Field Network, which was brought against Shari Nott after Foreclosurepedia’s dozens of articles on, Karnes last statement to me was that NFN and RMS had done nothing wrong.
