There are a lot of sources for REO/PP information out there today: Housingwire, DSNews and a few others come to mind. By-in-large, they all regurgitate the same drivel being spouted by Reuters, AP, etc. Across the board, you will note that their target advertisers are the same. This, in and of itself, bodes badly for anyone trying to obtain anything meaningful or G-d forbid read anything original. I will say, though, that they create a one-stop-shop for those whom need a one party belief mouthpiece distro.
Why am I writing this? Well, I reached out to these and other publications requesting some investigation to be brought to bear on the financial fraud being committed Industry wide upon Contractors. I thought that surely something like this would be newsworthy. Dead silence. Then I received an interesting Feed Request from the publisher of Housingwire, Paul Jackson. I make this presumption based upon the email being that of Paul Jackson of Housingwire. With this said I decided to reach out personally to him and see if he would be interested in looking into the matter. The reality is that I am not a professional journalist and I thought that perhaps it would be good to bring in a different set of eyes to better evaluate the situation. Hell, he was pulling our data so I thought at least he would have the politeness of saying no. Yeah, you guessed it. Silence.
While it is the prerogative of any media outlet to publish that which they want, to purposefully avoid writing about things which may negatively impact their advertisers is not only biased, it tends to cast a shadow upon their credibility. Accordingly, we are working up an expose on precisely who owns these media outlets, whom finances them and whom ultimately calls the shots.
We think you will find it extremely interesting with respect to our good ‘ol buddy Paul Jackson. From the close inner sanctum of Robert Jackson (Paul’s father) and his firm’s representation in the sub prime fiasco to one of the largest advertisers Lender Processing Service and their multiple count indictments for robo signing, the story is shaping up to be a must read!
