We are pleased to announce some additional enhancements we are making to our Aspen iRecord® system and process.
As part of the Industry Working Group key initiative of continuous improvement, and to drive a greater degree of accuracy in the identification and verification process, Consent Based Social Security Number Verification (CBSV) is being added to all industry standard background checks.
CBSV is provided by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and enables verification that the Social Security Number (SSN), name and date of birth provided by a contact either matches, or does not match, the data in the SSA’s records. This verification service is allowable only with the written consent of the SSN holder provided on the SSA’s Form SSA-89. Once a contact has been verified by the CBSV process, it is not required again for future background check renewals.
How Does CBSV Affect Me?
As of this week, all contacts who require a new or renewed background check will be required to complete CBSV. This is done by downloading the SSA-89 form within Aspen iRecord®, having it completed and signed, then uploading it as part of the background check process. There are clear instructions included when you download the form. Once a contact has been verified by the CBSV process, it is not required again for future background check renewals. There is no action required for any background checks completed to date that are not due to expire. The CBSV will be completed next time the background check is being renewed.
In addition to this change, your background check company, First Advantage, will be contacting you over the next few weeks to complete their credentialing process. This will give you access to their portal to view all past and current background check reports they have completed for you through Aspen iRecord®.
