While I have only observed Lee Mertins, Eduardo San Pedro’s darling of 24 Asset Management‘s US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) campaign through the lens of a camera, the reality is that one does not require the pressing of flesh to formulate an opinion. While I am not a classically trained psychiatrist, I have made a career in learning to judge personality types; learning to establish baselines and manufacture cause and effect strategies. I wish I could say that I believe Mertins represents a highly complex evolution of both organic and inorganic causation; however, the reality is that Mertins is quite pedestrian in his current state — Mertins is base and devoid of anything noteworthy with respect to how he feeds upon the proverbial raping and pillaging of those around him.
In Greco-Roman myth, Narcissus, the young and attractive man whom observes his reflection in a body of water, falls madly in love with his own image. His name is Narcissus and this is where we get the word narcissism.
One of the biggest problems in the Mortgage Field Services Industry is the fact that there is a continual churning of shit. And just like shit in a septic tank, the biggest pieces of shit tend to rise to the top. I believe that this analogy of Lee Mertins is a fair one. There are countless examples of Mertins’ tirades at Asset Management Specialists (AMS). Mertins focus was not just simply AMS employees. Contractors, by and through Mertins proxy wars, were subjected to Draconian and Medieval Christian Inquisitions should they ever rebel against Mertins’ Master Fraud Plan. More on point, though, the duplicitous books that Mertins & Co. kept on both Fannie Mae and HUD rival those of Myron Lansky. Mertins Epic HUD P260 Screen Shot Operation are legendary throughout both Pennsylvania and within the Beltway. Simply Google Foreclosurepedia HUD P260 Screen Shot and clue yourself in.
It is surprising that Eduardo San Roman would allow the type of sociopathic narcissist under his roof that he has with Mertins & Co. I mean San Roman is the quintessential Latino in that his family is the center of his world. Combine this with machismo and you have the perfect storm. The reality is that it is only a matter of time before San Roman’s wife begins to drag her fingernails down the proverbial chalk board in protest over Mertins & Co. coming in and dictating to her El Jefe. Make no mistake that the winds have already begun to change.
Mertins is well known for assigning the blame to anyone and everyone around him for the Epic Failures which were really the causation of the sale of AMS. While Ernie may publicly purport to be satisfied with the sale of AMS, the reality is that Mertins created a Perfect Storm. While hanging out the entirety of the AMS staff out to dry — here is irony in that a lady reached out months ago preaching the gospel of the sanctity of AMS — and capitalized on the sinking ship. Examine Lee Mertins and ask these questions:
Look for a lack of shame
See if the person is constantly lying
See if they are able to stay eerily calm in spite of circumstances
See if they are extremely charming — at first
See if the person is exceptionally intelligent
See if the person is manipulative
See if the person has a huge ego
See if the person has few real friends
See if the person likes to isolate you
These are all characteristics which I am sure those around Mertins & Co. will easily identify with. It goes fundamentally to the premise that shit flows to the top. 5 years ago, this was well and good. When you own a company; when your significant others have already begun to reassign precisely where the power and control are, it begins to not bode well for the aspirations one has. Set aside the fact that if you are running a company and your wife has begun to actively dissent against your normally quaint lifestyle — whether or not San Roman’s wife is doing this I do not know first hand. I do know that I would not want to appear like the elephant in a three ring circus and my hired help appear to be the ring master — that is the word out there now. The honest perception is that San Roman is incapable of landing or doing anything, now, without the guidance and approval of Mertins & Co. The reality is that when Financial Institutions and Portfolio Holders realize that the Deal is Sealed by and through Mertins & Co. any and all hope of longevity is extinguished. Labor, as well, begins to realize that it is not San Roman that they are dealing with, but instead they associate the atrocities committed under Mertins & Co. and anticipate that 24 Asset Management will be more of the same.
Eric Miller Claiming NAMFS.org as his website and the Developer
It is hard for sociopaths with narcissistic tendencies to ever allow anyone, but themselves, to claim credit for anything occurring around them. The only exception, as we see with both Mertins & Co. and Miller, is that the evils upon which they help facilitate are always someone else’s fault. As seen above, Miller is incapable of allowing NAMFS.org to take the proper credit for that which is theirs and Mertins & Co. in incapable of ever allowing San Roman and 24 Asset Management from ever running a legal ship.
Before You Go ...
Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
