The Dismantling of Aspen Grove Solutions

Aspen Grove Solutions Dropped by the Majority of Industry Providers

Eric Miller, NAMFS Executive Director, and Jim Taylor, former Wells Fargo confidence man, have been watching their money grab burn down in front of them. The hundreds of millions of dollars that Miller and Taylor schemed through their Wells Fargo connections in the Aspen Grove Solutions ABC number and background check are finally dwindling down into barely enough money for a city bus ride to the homeless shelter. And for those whom believe that Wells Fargo is an innocent bystander, let’s take a look at the Wells Fargo criminal rap sheet. Since 2000, Wells Fargo Bank has violated federal criminal and civil laws on 228 occasions. The bank has paid $22,081,446,244 in penalties and fines for doing so. No Wells Fargo executive was prosecuted for this avalanche of lawbreaking. In law enforcement jargon, Wells Fargo is a “habitual offender” with a rap sheet that is long and ugly. It is a rap sheet, though, celebrated by Miller and Zoldowski. Hell, simply take a look at the hundreds of millions of dollars NAMFS members have defrauded from Labor or their fraudulent insurance policies out of Washington State! Look, if you or I broke federal banking laws on 228 occasions, we would be deemed “incorrigible” and labeled as a “career criminal.” We would be prosecuted, convicted, and sentenced to long prison terms. The prosecutors and judges in our case would brag about how they protected society from dangerous criminal activity. In the case of NAMFS; in the case of Eric Miller and Matt Zoldwoski whom oversee Safeguard Properties, National Field Representatives, MSI, MCS, and that lovely New Jersey stronghold, Brookstone, it is proof positive that criminal networks are part and parcel the NAMFS way of doing business.

When you look at the NAMFS corporate sponsors of this crime spree, names like Safeguard Properties, National Field Representatives, Cyprexx, and MCS — Making Communities Shit is the new acronym — are the largest contributors all forcing Labor to pay illegal dues to Aspen Grove which are ordered by Wells Fargo regardless of whether or not Wells Fargo work orders are being performed. There is no other way at looking at these, and others such as Brookstone and MSI whom are supporting the career criminal status of the Aspen Grove money grab when every other legitimate industry in the US allows more than one option to perform background checks. It is antitrust, pure and simple.

And while the International Association of Field Service Technicians (IAFST) continues to attempt to combat three decades of entrenched criminality in the Mortgage Field Services Industry, the reality is that the continued dependency — the refusal of turning the page — on Aspen Grove may determine what software products IAFST will use going forward. Whether the IAFST will forego the carrot and bring a heavy stick down upon the criminal behavior that has come to define the Industry has been a concerning point of contention for firms such as Verisk. Verisk, a firm which is being looked at by HUD for consolidating all software products in the Industry, may be in for a legal battle when it comes to antitrust. And the uncontested fact that Versik now controls both the NAMFS Executive Director as well as its President leaves no doubt that the stakes are high. Raging debates ongoing now have the ability to truly define a legal and legitimate workforce and landscape, going forward are beginning to include new background check, insurance, and software products. And while NAMFS continues to downplay the fact, the reality of recent submissions to HUD with respect to unsolicited software products through the Federal Acquisition Regulations framework, may soon render moot Verisk as well as NAMFS. In fact, the very APIs that NAMFS has fought so hard to keep hidden are currently being released by the financial institutions whom actually issue the work.

The question that presents, though, is how the criminal labeling will impact companies whom interact with Wells Fargo and whether or not IAFST Labor will continue to be allowed to work with some of the firms aforementioned.

I want this to sink in, for just a minute: The crimes committed by Wells Fargo include major felonies like bank fraud, price-fixing, bid-rigging and other forms of anti-competitive practices, money laundering, economic sanctions violations, toxic securities fraud and mortgage fraud. And it isn’t that far of a stretch to connect the dots in how Wells Fargo is forcing the use of Aspen Grove not just upon its own criminal network, but throughout the Industry.

With IAFST’s recent federal nonprofit filing, the fears privately voiced are now coming to fruition. The old axes are being dusted off and there are many whom are ready to financially support the addressing of grievances by many against NAMFS and its membership. And like any revolution, the proverbial momentum of the mob is hard to stop. And when the pitchforks come, very few have access to private jets to escape the mayhem that ultimately follows. It is a mess of NAMFS’ own making. I shed no tears as I watch their pathetic towers of sand crumble all around. Time and again, Foreclosurepedia attempted to open dialogue and time and again NAMFS and its membership attempted to sue, slander, and sully our reputation. I have two words for NAMFS Executive Director Eric Miller and Verisk’s paid NAMFS President Matt Zoldowski: FUCK NAMFS! And if you start to truly take a look around on social media, those words are being used, more and more, each and every day!

The pockets of fraudulent social media on Facebook and elsewhere, financed by NAMFS sympathizers, are finally being held out for precisely what they are: echo chambers for a dying trade association. And mark my words, when they come for the waste, fraud, and abuse which their pimps have pushed them to publish, they too will become a statistic.

At the time publishing, what we can report is that the IAFST has, in fact, determined that the use of the ABC number has absolutely no added benefit to the work order system. Indeed, the IAFST, along with firms such as Altisource, Guardian Asset Management and ServiceLink, have all ceased using Aspen Grove Solutions for background checks thus pulling back from the Wells Fargo criminal network. As many others have come to the conclusion that the excessive fees charged combined with the complete lack of accountability, customer service, and veracity of the product delivered make Aspen Grove — Shieldhub as they are now rebranded as — Aspen Grove is a losing proposition. Unsurprisingly, it is yet another nail in the coffin of the #TwoForVerisk NAMFS Executive Director Eric Miller and NAMFS President Matt Zoldowski’s sacred cows.

And it is not simply Management looking at the expenses. Labor has been quite vocal about whom they will and will not continue working with. In the latest polling of Labor Foreclosurepedia took, less than four percent were willing to work on Wells Fargo properties. The number one reason for refusing to do such was fraud. Second, was costs.

While Roman was not built in a day, it is clear that the days of NAMFS calling shots are long gone. It is also becoming clear that Labor is moving further away from NAMFS firms like National Field Representatives, Cyprexx, and MCS whom all support banks such as Wells Fargo, with the extensive criminal rap sheet it has become so notorious for. And with volumes so low, Labor’s shift could bode well for some of the Nationals whom have decided to join the IAFST.

Before You Go ...

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
