The three dollar inspections National Association of Mortgage Field Services (NAMFS) members are slinging out have Inspectors on edge in the Mortgage Field Services Industry. According to estimates used by both the CDC and the White House, the potential death rate from October through December will double based upon middle of the road estimates — that is over 410,000. And as firms like Assero are demanding that posting be placed on occupied properties stating they are unoccupied and as others such as Cyprexx begin requiring door hangers, the inevitable human contact appears to be now written in stone.
The U.S. will top more than 410,000 Covid-19 deaths by the end of the year as the country heads into the fall and winter, according to a new forecast from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
To date, NAMFS has refused to share statistics of precisely how many of their boots on the ground Inspectors are or have been infected. In fact, according to all documentation Foreclosurepedia has reviewed, Inspectors have no guarantee that they will ever have work returned to them if they do report infection. And with tens of thousands of contractors operating in all 50 states and territories, the likelihood of spreading or contracting COVID is raised by an almost incalculable level. By contrast, the International Association of Field Service Technicians (IAFST) has maintained a centralized repository of COVID related information including that published by NAMFS members. Why NAMFS, itself, has chosen not to make this information available is unknown. Foreclosurepedia first sounded the alarm in February 2020 when only a handful of cases were present. It took NAMFS nearly a month to even acknowledge COVID.
With the recent announcement by CDC of issuing a moratorium on all rental evictions through the end of the year as well as the federal moratoriums on foreclosures impacting roughly 40% of the mortgages out there, the reality is that come January — when we will be in the depths of winter and a guaranteed spike in COVID infections and deaths — NAMFS members will be cranking out volumes not seen since the 2008 crisis. The problem here is that the same old adage of Volumes Make Up For Profit Loss simply will not ring true. Foreclosurepedia predicts and continuing drop in pricing and this, coupled with increased need for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), will make a recipe for catastrophic disaster.
Do not risk your and your family’s health as we begin to head into what will most certainly be a second wave of COVID in October. Demand no contact inspections, demand PPE compensation, and most of all be aware that even if you do not feel sick, the potential to asymptotically spread COVID is always present.
