I always smile just a little bit when I see a National Association of Mortgage Field Services (NAMFS) Member following the Path that Foreclosurepedia laid out months earlier. While NAMFS publicly excoriates me and even forbids the mention of my name in the presence of Eric Miller and most of his Board of Directors — that is a true story folks — the reality is that privately most of the Big Boys know that one way or the other my word is the sacred law being marshalled out from the wilderness. ServiceLink Field Services (SLFS), formerly LPS Field Services (LPS), is no different in this respect. What is unique, though, is that SLFS is actually taking on one of the biggest predatory schemes NAMFS Members have ever cooked up — negligent disenfranchisement of local, county and state income tax. Oh, don’t act all surprised, the reality is that Miller and his gaggle of hens have been doing far worse with their cacophony of sycophants for years!
ServiceLink Field Services (SLFS) has identified that a number of the inspection and preservation services that we offer are subject to sales tax. As such, McGladrey LLP, an accounting firm, has been retained by the management of ServiceLink, a Black Knight Company, to assist in gathering data and information relating to our inspection and property preservation activities. The purpose of doing so is to ultimately improve and streamline our overall sales tax process and ensure compliance within the taxing jurisdictions throughout the United States.
Do ya really think you might owe just a wee bit of tax SLFS? Wonders never fucking cease to amaze me. Had that been the end of the story, though, I would have given them a standing ovation. The supplier is not to charge sales tax on the taxable services it provides to SLFS. SLFS is assuming the responsibility for determining whether a service is taxable; and, consequently, will assess, collect and remit the applicable sales tax for the appropriate taxing jurisdiction relevant to our business.
Well, you can’t win them all, can you? Actually, in that Labor within the Mortgage Field Services Industry has literally become such a hodgepodge of Craigslist Hacks terrified to even open their mouths for air while being raped — Andy Bradley and his Florida Crew of miscreants whom were terrified into submission by SEAS LLC when SEAS LLC no longer even existed is a spot on example — the reality is that just like extra baggage fees, so to will the Industry begin to get themselves legal at the expense of Labor.
