What Happens In Ohio Stays In Ohio

We are working on our story of a home owner getting the doors kicked in by everyone’s favorite outfit.  This percolated to the top.  Safeguard Properties (SGP) shut its Westlake Village office down and laid off 82 people after buying the business from Bank of America BANA).  SGP, which maintains foreclosed and defaulted homes for lenders in Valley View, Ohio, said layoffs began in early February and continued until the office closed.  They then gutted the San Bernardino, California, BANA facility they bought.  Another 168 employees were impacted.

While not normally all that newsworthy as we expect nothing less from the Property Preservation Industry, we were curious as to what happened to these folks.  If you are one of them, reach out and we will document your plight!

Before You Go ...

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
