It amazes me how much people take for granted things that other people build. Take democracy, for example. According to the US Embassy, While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. And therein lies the rub, as the bard would say. No matter the language used and no matter how it applies to any of our public or private institutions, the reality is there are those whom exist and live upon the largess that others provide. Here we have a rogue Tesla shareholder, Richard Tornetta, who originally sued Musk in 2018. It is a great example to demonstrate how people whom have no idea how to do anything but pretend to be important and thus create calamity, at all levels, in order to satisfy their need to be heard. Democracy is an illusion and that is really not a bad thing. We do it to each other every day. For example, our day begins with a series of hollow inquiries of others such as, “Good Morning, how are you today?” The reality is that it rarely is a good morning, for anyone, and if it is not a good morning there is even less of a chance that anyone gives a damn how your day is going. And then come the platitudes. Things such as, “You look great today,” or “Thank you.” Fact of the matter is when I used to get a call from some hack vendor manager at a Prime Vendor’s office, I would look at my watch. Generally, I was loosing 35 seconds of my life, which could never be replaced, on each call, simply to get through the bullshit of greetings and inquiries. With respect to the thank yous that have become part and parcel of our world, much like some methed out Southern Debutant’s finishing school, I began to realize that I wasn’t going to participate in the illusions anymore. The problem with the United States today, other than the hordes of invading illegal aliens, is that everyone wants a check on Friday built upon the back of someone like me who built the framework. Take, for example, the illegal aliens that the Biden Administration threw open the doors for. The Center for Immigration Studies found last year from January 2023 to December 2023, at least 320,000 illegal immigrants were allowed to fly into the U.S. from their home country through a controversial program of the Biden administration using the Customs and Border Patrol app, the CBP One app that was created to let migrants apply for parole into the US. And let’s go a step deeper as the freeloading has gotten completely out of control. $451 Billion is the top line price tag.
Problem is that this freeloading is spreading everywhere. I don’t know how many emails and calls I get asking for free help because Labor got themselves in a bind and do not want to accept responsibility. It doesn’t stop there, though. I mean I busted my ass to create an entire infrastructure — Newswire, Intelligence Network, Labor Databases, and an Association — and here I have self appointed messiahs attempting to leverage my decade and a half of work into their own little power grab. Not on my watch!
It is everywhere, now, but most severely in our Industry. It is Battered Contractor’s Syndrome. People have become accustomed to working for free because they are afraid to make their voices heard to Prime Vendors. This Industry believes that because they have some asshole on the other end of the line saying, “Good morning,” and “Take one for the Team,” that everyone else should do the same. Fuck that. To hell with people who want a free ride because they are not capable of creating software or websites, but need the code and updates and security so that they do not get sued. To hell with those who want to live off of other people’s Recruiting and Network Access and do not want to occasionally chip in a dime.
There, I said it. It was long overdue. More on point, though, now that I have, why don’t you tell your Prime Vendors and Associations that you deserve more instead of less. Why not rebel against the freeloading by these two parties and start shopping your dollar better?
