Hedge Funds Lose Their Shirts And Cry To Uncle Biden

Foreclosurepedia Hits Page One On Google For Reyes Bros Services

I have never had respect for hedge funds. For years, they have fed at the trough of the government with risky investments only to be bailed out at the expense of the US taxpayer. In fact, Foreclosurepedia knows, first hand, how these rouges operate using netherworld fronts like Reyes Bro’s Investment dba Reyes Bros Services out of Maryland to stick it to the common man. And what we are witnessing today, with respect to the GameStop gambit — $AAL, $AMC, $BB, $BBBY, $CTRM, $EXPR, $GME, $KOSS, $NAKD, $NOK, $SNDL, $TR and $TRVG — is a testament to the fact that when the rich get beat at their own game, they will break every law and cut every throat to prevail.

Hedge funds and others that bet against GameStop have collectively lost more than $5bn, according to data analytics company S3. Melvin Capital boss Gabe Plotkin told CNBC that his fund had closed its position in GameStop on Tuesday.

The system has always been rigged to keep people in line; the system has always had a built in policy to ensure that no matter how honest or intelligent you are, predators like Reyes Bros Services — or in this case the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) — will make their money upon the stolen ideas of others. The story of GameStop, though, is a David vs Goliath wherein Goliath didn’t just get hit with a stone, but had his teeth curb checked by a group of people whom had nothing to lose.

“It was a huge, massive short position,” says Corey Hoffstein, chief investment officer of quantitative investment and research firm Newfound Research. A significant amount of money was caught in what’s known as a “short squeeze,” which happens when investors who have bet against a rising stock have to buy it to cover their losses. When the price goes up, so does the loss risk for short sellers. They may then buy shares to cushion that risk because they theoretically face, as Hoffstein says, “unlimited losses as the price goes up and up and up toward infinity.” The price skyrocketed.

And therein lies the rub, as the bard would say. You see, everyone is supposed to play by the same rules. In the GameStop case, hedge funds believed that no one would ever challenge their perceived supremacy. The ultra rich and elite never believed that a quarantined population would do anything other than watch reruns of the Simpsons. The hedge funds thought that while they received tens of trillions of dollars how dare the American public not be content with their $600 checks.

Information is the most powerful thing on the face of the Earth. In the same way that Foreclosurepedia is now on Page One of Google when you search REYES BROS SERVICES, the hedge funds were beaten at their own game. Flows before Pros to quote  Bloomberg’s Tracy Alloway.

Probably one of the most prolific comments reported by Wired, is the following,

“THIS IS PROOF OF OUR STRATEGY. BUY SHARES. BLEED THE SHORTS. FUCK THE INSTITUTIONS. HOLD THE LINE.”

In the same way that I publish about the iniquities doled out within the Mortgage Field Services Industry, so to have the 4chan-esque Redditors proven that information is power. Moreover, though, for the first time in the history of capitalism, the common man has been able to both leverage and beat the ultra elite at their own game. And to be clear, it was legal. Each and every day hedge funds collude amongst themselves — whether it be to build new homes in Florida or take over millions of homes in a foreclosure crisis — in a calculated manner based upon risk and reward. And sometimes — although in this case profit was made — the bankruptcy of the entity is the most prudent strategy. You don’t have to go far to look at how it has happened in our Industry. Simply read through the recent acquisition of Mortgage Contracting Services (MCS) recently bought out by Littlejohn & Company.

My faith in humanity in a capitalistic society is somewhat restored today. It is a good first step to be sure. If your company would like to experience a similar meteoric rise, you may want to consider some of our Products available below.

Before You Go ...

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
