Are You Ready As PPP Loans Gear Up?

PPP Loans May Be Coming Down The Pike But It Is Too Little Too Late

President Trump finally found time in his golfing routine to sign the Stimulus Bill late Sunday evening. As in all things Trump has done, since losing the election, this act was calculated to cause pain and suffering for the American People. What should have been a quick and easy solution to extend unemployment benefits to tens of millions of people and continue the pipeline of PPP Loans to small businesses became yet another Trumpian privileged frat boy temper tantrum.

It is a play straight out of the private equity playbook. Hamstring the ability of anyone attempting to protect rights or hold others accountable for their misbehavior. In the instant case, Trump incorrectly believes that it is his right to determine whom is entitled to what.

The $900 Billion Stimulus Package, while chock full of pork barrel spending, is the only lifeline that Congress has been able to get out other than its initial CARES Act at the beginning of the COVID crisis nearly a year ago. And while Republicans and Democrats alike are cheering and patting each other on the back, there is a real sense that it may be too little too late. The playing of chicken with the lives of Americans has become standard practice over the past year during COVID. The boisterous speeches uttered by fattened, elderly members of Congress continue to ring hollow in the empty stomachs of children crying themselves to sleep due to hunger.

Thanks to Trump and his fanatics, the below is now displayed on one PPP Loan Provider, LoanBuilder, instead of an Application Button,

PayPal is reviewing the new Covid Relief Bill, including how it impacts the loan forgiveness process for existing PPP loan borrowers and PayPal’s ability to facilitate access to additional PPP loan funding. We are unable to provide any more detailed information or answers to your specific questions until the Bill is officially enacted, and the SBA issues detailed rules, guidance, forms and instructions on its implementation. We will provide updates as they become available.

For the first time in our Nation’s history, our federal government has purposefully sacrificed 1 out of ever 1,000 lives simply to prove an ideological point. There is no other way to describe what Trump and his cronies have done when it comes to COVID. And in the same way, after rewarding Corporate America with over $10 Trillion, postponing a signature to the Stimulus Bill has ensured it will now be weeks before those whom are entitled to unemployment ever receive a dime.

The Intercept had a pretty good summary of how Trump arrived, Trump’s rise to power was the direct result of a failing democracy and a broken economic system, and those forces haven’t gone anywhere. Regardless of how much the Biden Administration prepares, the landmines left behind by Trump will take twice as long as delivering the long overdue assistance to the American People. To that point, many are asking when the PPP Loans will usher out again and the answer is that even Congress has no idea. Trump’s last minute signature forced the near shuttering of virtually every Agency whom had oversight upon the process. Trump’s recent smackdown of his Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, also complicates matters.

It is well documented that Secretary Mnuchin has no love for the American Public. His demands to shutter all federal aid not used by the Federal Reserve is to be returned and never to be allocated again with respect to the COVID crisis. It goes further, though. Republicans have made no bones about the fact that they want only money flowing to Corporations and not workers as well documented in hundreds of Congressional Speeches over the past 8 months.

As I type, the House of Representatives have just passed a Bill to raise the $600 per person Stimulus payment to $2,000. It is really more symbolic legislation than anything else as the Republican controlled Senate will strike it down.

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
