Ten Thousand Dollars Immediately Available For #Harvey Victims

Fox News reported, early this morning during a FEMA Press Conference, that the National Flood Insurance Program is making $10,000 immediately available to those insured and impacted by Hurricane #Harvey. #Havrvey made initial landfall on 25 August 2017 along the Texas Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane, and in added insult to injury in the early hours of 30 August 2017, by making a second landfall as a tropical storm. With more than 50 inches of rain, the National Weather Service says Harvey has set a preliminary record for the most rainfall measured from a single storm in the continental U.S.  Moreover, though, the NWS had to create new types of meteorological maps to attribute the more than 25 trillion gallons of water which fell from the sky. To give you an idea of the biblical scope, it would take a shower running day and night nearly 21 million years to replicate the same volume of rainfall.

So, whom do state and federal agencies reach out to for contracting purposes in addressing containment and repair?

To get a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) contract, or work with the US Government at any level, your firm first must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM), which absorbed FEMA’s former Debris Removal Contractor Registry. SAM combines federal procurement systems and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance into one system and often was referred to as CCR – ORCA. Additionally, when you obtain a SAM Account, your firm is assigned a Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code, a five-character Identification used within the federal government, which is issued by the Defense Logistics Agency to identify a specific facility at a specific location.

For years, Foreclosurepedia has worked with both Labor and Management in the creation of SAM Accounts. What normally would take a novice hundreds of hours to complete, takes Foreclosurepedia several hours. That means that your firm is doing business TODAY and not standing in line while others are making money.

In addition to the SAM Account and required to be obtained before your firm is able to create such, a DUNS is mandatory. The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS), is a proprietary system developed and regulated by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) whom assigns a unique numeric identifier, referred to as a DUNS number to a single business entity. It was introduced in 1963 to support D&B’s credit reporting practice.

Many of the thresholds which insurance companies look to boilerplate approve contracts are all contained by obtaining the DUNS number and the SAM Account. The reason for this is because the US Government verifies a plethora of information such as criminal history, financial solvency, licensing — the SAM Account does all of this with no fee attached. Why the Mortgage Field Services Industry did not opt for this as opposed to the millions of dollars bilked from Minority Females and Labor is a question best put to Eric Miller, Executive Director for the National Association of Mortgage Field Services (NAMFS).

Before You Go ...

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
