Jason Marzec: How Labor Connects The Dots

Over the past several months I have been interviewing Members of Labor whom have had a story to tell which shakes even me to the core. Had the allegations been simply isolated or had they not been substantiated as common by high ranking Sources within Management, I would have dismissed them. The truth is that while I used to consider those in lower level of Management Labor, I no longer do. The fact of the matter is that these Coordinators and Vendor Mangers I will be writing upon, over the next month, appear to be even worse than their C Level Superiors.

We just didn’t understand how he [Jason Marzec] could open a consulting company while working at Safeguard Properties. I mean it was like when we didn’t want to pay for his services our volume tanked a quarter of a million dollars. — Former Safeguard Properties Fannie Mae Contractor speaking about Jason Marzec.

Miller-Box-80pxThe seedy and nebulous world of the Mortgage Field Services Industry is much like the Streets of New York at the turn of the twentieth century. The Five Boroughs had the Five Bosses and no one did jack shit without their ok. Fact of the matter is that while New York has changed with the times, the Industry now only has One Boss: Eric Miller. Miller is the Executive Director of the National Association of Mortgage Field Services (NAMFS) Regime. He enriches himself and his family with over ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR CONSUMING NEARLY SEVENTY PERCENT OF ALL MEMBER DUES. I mean what could go wrong, right?!

As we roll out this Series, you are going to recognize quite a few Safeguard Properties (SGP) names whom were and still are SGP Coordinators and Managers. Ask Joe Iafigliola, SGP’s  vice president of vendor management.  Joe leads our vendor recruiting, sourcing, execution, controls, and field quality control teams. as he processed the Marzec Matter we are told. Some, like Marzec, have gone on to form Consulting Businesses. We have offered the opportunity to each to discuss the accusations and have additionally contacted Safeguard Properties for comments pertaining to implementation of protocols to curb this abusive and illegal behavior. To date, none have replied — go figure.

Before You Go ...

Foreclosurepedia exists because readers, workers, and advocates understand that protecting Labor in the mortgage field services industry requires independence, persistence, and resources. We do not answer to servicers, hedge funds, or corporate trade groups; our accountability is to the Field Service Technicians, Inspectors and administrative personnel whose livelihoods are too often treated as expendable. Donations are what allow us to investigate quietly buried contract changes, expose abusive labor practices, and publish work that would otherwise never see the light of day. Every contribution helps keep our reporting free from industry pressure and focused squarely on defending labor standards, fair pay, and basic dignity in the foreclosure ecosystem. If you believe this work matters, your support is not symbolic—it is the reason Foreclosurepedia can continue to stand between Labor and a system that routinely exploits it.
